A precision aluminium 'drop in' AICS format bottom metal upgrade for Howa 1500 short action rifles.
This unique hard wearing design replaces the plastic factory bottom metal unit and allows use of the popular AICS magazine format.
Requires minor modification of AICS magazines to clear the Howa 1500 trigger unit shape, filing a small notch in the back of the magazine for clearance. See the WR fitting guide.
Features include:
- Allows use of AICS short action magazines with minor modification
- Chamfered magazine well entry for faster mag changes
- Wide flat based trigger guard for use with rests
- Extra space in front of the trigger for use with gloves
- Machined from Aluminium 7075 and hard anodised in black
- Weighs only 83g
- Reuses factory take-down screws (recommended torque: 6Nm / 4.5 ft-lbs / 54 in-lbs)

Please note: if you have a .223 action please check bolt stop clearance when fitting, AICS rounds sit slightly further forward than Howa magazines, the bolt stop will need shortening around 4-6mm, an easy fix (good walkthrough here https://youtu.be/sR3aNUSqQrw)
Not suitable for MDT Polymer .223 magazines - the chunky grip bars at the rear of the magazine get in the way of the lever making release difficult.
