IN STOCK

Model replaced by the WR Gas Mongrel Hybrid Muzzle Brake.

The WR Ultra Comp muzzle brake is an innovative lightweight brake that offers dramatic reductions in recoil and vertical jump combined with reduced blast and ground disturbance.

  • Designed specifically for competition it offers class leading performance
  • Dramatic recoil reduction - approx 58 - 71%
  • Dramatic vertical jump reduction - approx 82% to 88%
  • Vertical bounce control - no additional bounce, only 1% vertical vectoring

  • Enables faster and more comfortable handling of targets without loss of sight picture
  • Reduced blast for use with barricades and obstacles
  • Perfect for disciplines such as PRS, Practical and Tactical use

Unlike many brake designs which are more art than science, the Gas Mongrel is the culmination of years of research into gas flow modeling and barrel harmonics by a team with nearly two decades of fluid dynamics design.

  • 3 conical ports with slight negative angling and varying port size for gas on gas interference to reduce blast
  • Lightweight 7075 aluminium design - just 55-60g (depending on model)
  • Dissipates heat 5 types faster than steel
  • No gas cutting issues
  • Just 63mm long
  • Slim 26mm design for passage of muzzle through obstacles
  • Helmholtz resonance - additional in-barrel resonance is minimised by controlling exit of pre-load gases with 2 step chamber design
  • Shooter comfort - dramatic recoil reduction makes for less shoulder fatigue

Three standard sizes available in 1/2x28 UNEF, M14x1, M18x1, 5/8x24, 3/4x24 thread.

  • Up to 6mm (.243)
  • Up to 7mm (.284)
  • Up to .30 cal (.308

Usage and Fitting

To attach and time/clock the brake (so it is secured with the flat base horizontal) there are 3 options:

  1. Use the supplied half nut or jam nut
  2. Brake-to-barrel - Get a reputable gunsmith to machine the rear of the brake for correct clocking flush to your barrel as required
  3. Back the brake up to a crush washer, shim or O ring

WR recommend using a reputable gunsmith if you do not have experience with fitting brakes.

WR do not recommend designs with an integrated nut, while convenient it is very rigid and not good for the metal elasticity.

WR recommend brakes are removed before cleaning - cleaning both the barrel and brake.
