The new CZ 512 is out

Posted by Dom on Jan 12, 2011

CZ’s new CZ 512 semi-auto rifle in .22LR and .22WMR has finally been released in the UK as a replacement for the CZ 511. Currently retailing for around £390.

Early reports are positive, it’s not modular like the Ruger 10/22 but as with most CZ’s is pretty damn accurate out of the box and uses the same 5 and 10 shot magazines as the CZ 455, which is good news. These are the new format magazines with the U shaped notch in front of the bullet which are backwards compatible with the CZ 452/453.

There is a good practical review in New Zealand magazine Rod & Rifle using it in the field, looks promising.

Update – 02/01/2012

Some guys over in the USA have done a pretty good hands on review of the .22 magnum version of the CZ 512, the one thing they haven’t spotted is the bolt slide lock back switch just in front of the trigger, though it’s well hidden and may not feature in every country. They only have the standard 5 round magazine, be good to have a go with the 10 round version, though easy to burn through the ammo!
